Visa Interviews
Visa InterviewsMedium
“What will you do if your visa application is refused?”
Expected Duration: 1-2 mins
Sample Answer
I would ask for the refusal reason in writing, correct the specific weakness — whether a document gap or a funding question — and reapply with a stronger file. If the timing no longer works for this intake, I will keep my admission for the next cycle and use the time to gain professional experience here. A refusal would disappoint me, but it would not end my plan.
Strong Example
“I would read the refusal reason carefully, fix exactly that gap, and reapply — my university also allows deferral for one year, so the plan survives either way.”
Weak Example
“I will try through another country or another passport route.”
How to Answer
This question tests maturity, not ties. Show a calm, lawful, plan-B mindset. Never suggest illegal migration routes — it is an automatic refusal.
Common Mistakes
- Becoming emotional or pleading
- Mentioning illegal or irregular migration options
- Saying “my life will be ruined”
Follow-up Questions
- Q: Have you applied for a visa before?
- Q: What was the outcome of that application?
