“What will you contribute to Afghanistan after you complete your studies?”
Expected Duration: 2-3 mins
Sample Answer
My field is public health, and Afghanistan suffers from one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the region. After graduating I will join a national health organization and work on training midwives in rural provinces. In five years I want to lead a program that reduces maternal deaths in at least three provinces. I also plan to mentor younger students from my province who want to enter this field.
Strong Example
“I will return with skills in data analysis for health programs — my province has no specialists in this, so even one trained person changes how decisions are made.”
Weak Example
“I will do anything my country needs. I love Afghanistan and I will help in every possible way.”
How to Answer
Be specific: name a sector, a problem and a realistic first step. Committees hear “I will help my country” a hundred times a day — a concrete plan is what they remember.
Common Mistakes
- Vague promises without any concrete field or plan
- Suggesting you will stay abroad permanently
- Overpromising “I will become president”-style answers
Follow-up Questions
- Q: What is the biggest obstacle to that plan right now?
- Q: Which organizations in Afghanistan are already working on this?
