Scholarship InterviewsMedium
“Who is funding your education, and how will you cover costs that the scholarship does not include?”
Expected Duration: 2-3 mins

Sample Answer

The scholarship covers my tuition, a monthly stipend, health insurance and one round-trip ticket. My family has set aside a small emergency fund for costs like winter clothing or personal expenses, and I plan to work part-time on campus if the visa rules allow. I have already prepared a monthly budget so that no unexpected cost becomes a problem during my studies.

Strong Example

“The scholarship covers tuition and living costs. I have a written budget and a small family fund as backup — I will not need to work illegally or drop out.”

Weak Example

“I will find work immediately and send money home while studying full-time.”

How to Answer

Show that you have done the math: know exactly what the scholarship covers and what it does not. Officers worry about students who will overwork or violate visa terms for money.

Common Mistakes

  • Saying “I will work to cover everything” without a plan
  • Not knowing what the scholarship actually covers
  • Asking the committee for extra money

Follow-up Questions

  • Q: What is your monthly budget for accommodation and food?
  • Q: Are you allowed to work part-time with this visa type?
