Education Officer / Master Trainer

ARWEO is a nonprofit organization with a visionary focus on the rehabilitation and protection of vulnerable communities in Afghanistan. ARWEO has a strategic goal of assisting the lifesaving and immediate needs of the marginalized population including IDPs, refugees, and host communities in eastern, central, and northern regions. ARWEO has a history of 22 years implemented 86 projects with 65% of projects in education, protection, food security, nutrition, and livelihoods. ARWEO is dedicated to transforming the lives of marginalized children including boys and girls, particularly those with immediate education, protection, and humanitarian needs, and those belonging to IDP, refugee, and host communities in the affected provinces of Afghanistan.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Education Management, Teaching, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in education programming, teacher training, capacity building, or education project implementation.

• Proven experience as a trainer, facilitator, teacher trainer, or Master Trainer.

• Experience in NGO/INGO or humanitarian education programs is preferred.

• Experience in developing and delivering Training of Trainers (ToT) programs.

• Experience in monitoring and supporting teaching quality is desirable.

Skills

• Strong understanding of educational methodologies and curriculum development.

• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including teachers, community members, and local authorities.

• Proficiency in local languages (Dari, Uzbaki and Pashto) is highly desirable.

Working Conditions

• The Education Officer/Master Trainer will be based in Faryab with frequent travel to project sites within the province.

• The position may require working outside of regular hours to accommodate training schedules

Safeguarding

• Consistent with ARWEO’s safeguarding and protection policies, ensure all people who come into contact with ARWEO are as safe as possible.

• Support the planning and implementation of education project activities.
• Ensure education activities are implemented according to project plans, standards, and organizational policies.
• Coordinate with schools, teachers, community representatives, education authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Support the development of activity plans, schedules, and training plans.
• Identify challenges affecting education quality and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Participate in education assessments, needs assessments, and program reviews.
• Conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions and refresher trainings.
• Prepare training materials, presentations, lesson plans, handouts, and practical exercises.
• Assess participants’ learning before, during, and after training.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to trained teachers and facilitators.
• Identify training needs and recommend appropriate capacity-building activities.
• Ensure training content is consistent with approved curricula, teaching standards, and project requirements.
• Act as a lead trainer and technical resource person for education-related training.
• Facilitate ToT workshops and support cascade training at field level.
• Mentor and coach trainers to improve their facilitation and training skills.
• Observe training sessions and provide constructive feedback to trainers.
• Support the development and adaptation of training packages and tools.
• Maintain records of training participants, attendance, assessment results, and training outcomes.
• Conduct regular monitoring visits to schools, learning centers, and training sites.
• Observe classroom teaching and provide constructive technical feedback.
• Monitor teacher performance and implementation of training recommendations.
• Collect and analyze education-related data and information.
• Prepare regular activity and progress reports.
• Document success stories, lessons learned, challenges, and best practices.
• Support program evaluations and quality improvement processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of monitoring and reporting documents.
• Coordinate closely with the Education Coordinator/Project Manager and field teams.
• Maintain effective communication with teachers, school management, communities, and education authorities.
• Participate in education coordination meetings and technical working groups when required.
• Represent the organization professionally during relevant meetings, workshops, and training events.
• Promote safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments.
• Ensure gender, disability, protection, and inclusion considerations are incorporated into education activities.
• Follow organizational safeguarding, child protection, code of conduct, and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse policies.
• Immediately report safeguarding concerns through established organizational mechanisms.
